Five status labels
A tested answer accepted by independent specialists, such as Linear B or Z340.
Evidence survives but supports no single tested answer, such as Linear A or Roanoke.
Qualified researchers publish conflicting readings, such as the Nebra sky disc's date.
A claim with no corroborating evidence, such as the "Baghdad Battery".
A claim tested and contradicted by evidence, such as ancient crystal skulls.
Sourcing rules
We prefer peer-reviewed publications, museum and archive catalogues, and excavation reports. Each claim carries its citation directly beneath it. Where a famous quotation is traditional rather than documented, we say so. Where we paraphrase, we label it as our paraphrase.
Reconstruction policy
Our 3D images are softly lit illustrations on plain backgrounds, created to help readers picture types of objects. Every one is labelled "Illustration" and never presented as an archival photograph. Invented signs in our renders do not reproduce any real inscription.
Uncertainty is a measurement, not a door. It tells you how much is unknown; it does not tell you what fills the space.
